2032 Olympics in Brisbane?

Brisbane

The Queensland state government is fully behind Brisbane’s bid to become host city for the 2032 Olympic Games.

If the federal government gives the official green light and funding, a bid will likely be submitted to the IOC. The bid would be based in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. State premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says nearly 80% of venues are already in place, thanks to the Gold Coast’s hosting of last year’s Commonwealth Games.

According to Palaszczuk, hosting the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics could be a game-changer. The region is hoping to achieve this possibility and works with partners to ensure financial support from all needed levels of government.

Queensland is sure it would be a great opportunity to showcase itself to the world. It would become the third Australian city to be an Olympic Summer Games host after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
