Air France ramps up summer schedule to 2019 levels

Air France will resume flights to China as part of its 2023 summer schedule, along with capacity increases across North America, Europe and Africa – amounting to a network of 191 destinations and a schedule at 2019 levels.
The French flag carrier plans to introduce daily flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong from 1 July, and will also increase flights to Japan, with up to 11 weekly flights to Tokyo Haneda and three to Tokyo Narita.
In response to “dynamic demand”, the carrier plans to operate up to 180 flights a week to 14 US destinations, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, New York Newark Liberty, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC.
Additional capacity increases are also planned on routes to Canada, with 50 weekly flights connecting Paris to Montreal, Ottawa, Québec, Toronto and Vancouver.
The airline will resume flying between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Quebec City on 2 May, 2023, and will introduce a new five-times weekly direct flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Ottawa on 27 May.
Air France will be the only airline operating direct flights between Ottawa and Europe, and, according to the airline, will become the region’s leading air carrier in terms of capacity connecting Europe and Canada.
Increased and new routes are also planned to Africa, where seat capacities are already above 2019 levels. On 12 June, the carrier will launch a three-times weekly service to the major Tanzanian city of Dar Es Salaam. The flight, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, will be a continuation of the carrier’s service to Zanzibar, which launched in 2021.
A daily service to Nairobi, Kenya, will also become a direct flight on 12 June.
The carrier’s new 48-seat business class cabin, which is already present on long-haul routes to New York’s JFK Airport as well as on services to Rio de Janeiro and Dakar in Senegal, will be introduced on flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Johannesburg, South Africa, as of 27 March, 2023.
Meanwhile, in the Caribbean, Air France will inaugurate a new weekly flight connecting Cayenne in French Guiana to Brazil’s Belém.
An additional 66 seasonal routes will also be launched across France and Europe.
These flights will connect Paris, as well as several other regional hubs in France, to Corsica, Greece, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
