AccorHotels to debut in Mozambique with new airport hotel
AccorHotels is launching in Mozambique with a new property opening in 2021. The group signed a deal with property developer Matreal Property Services to operate the Mövenpick Hotel Maputo. This comes after AccorHotels acquired Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in a deal finalised in September.
The hotel is set to have 150 upscale rooms and will be next to Maputo International Airport, just five kilometres from the centre of the city.
Mark Willis, CEO of AccorHotels Middle East and Africa says: “With its strong ties to the region’s economic hub, South Africa, Mozambique’s growing importance as a regional commercial centre, plus its future tourism potential, given its rich culture and unspoiled Indian Ocean coastline, Maputo is a major key city for development and one that will drive future expansion opportunities.”
AccorHotels hopes the property will cater for the growing meetings, incentives, conferences and events market with conference facilities and attractive dining options.
