Amsterdam Schiphol Airport proposes night flight, private jet ban
Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport wants to scrap night flights and ban private jets.
They are part of measures aimed at reducing its air traffic congestion for a ‘quieter, cleaner and better’ operation.
If approved, the new proposals would be effective ‘no later than 2025-26,’ the airport said.
Private jets will ‘no longer be welcome’ at Schiphol Airport.
Additionally, there would be no aircraft arrivals from midnight through 5 am.
Flight departures would be banned until 6 am. local time.
Schiphol Airport management says private jets cause ‘a disproportionate amount of noise nuisance’ and more emissions per passenger.
“Sufficient scheduled services are available to the most popular destinations flown to by private jets,” it said.
