Botswana Tourism appoints new CEO
The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has appointed a CEO.
The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism has appointed Myra Sekgororoane as new CEO, who takes the reins from Zibanani Hubona, who has been acting CEO since Thabo Dithebe resigned in 2016.
Sekgororoane is expected to steer the organisation as it re-configures and strategises to become more focused on its mandate, which is to market and promote Botswana as tourist destination of choice, promote investment in the tourism sector, and to grade and classify tourism facilities. This is crucial as the tourism sector has been identified by government as one of the main drivers of economic diversification.
Sekgororoane is the founding CEO of the tourism organisation, and returns as BTO’s CEO after she parted ways with the organisation in December 2013.
