British Airways fined for US tarmac delay
British Airways has been slapped with a $135,000 airline fine in the US for tarmac delays dating back several years.
The U.S. Transportation Department imposed a $135,000 penalty due to not deplaning passengers in a timely manner.
It dates back to a delay in 2017.
Passengers were stranded on the plane during bad weather for over four hours without giving the option of deboarding.
The airline claimed a de-icing truck ran out of fuel.
Under US rules, an airline should not leave passengers stuck on a plane flying internationally for more than four hours without giving them the chance to deplane.
