Disneyland Paris ‘explosion’ confirmed as false alarm

Disneyland Paris

Several people were reportedly injured in a stampede at Disneyland Paris after a loud noise from an elevator was mistaken for an explosion.

Tourists ran from the theme park in a panic after loud bangs were heard just before 9pm on Friday.

It was later established that the noise came from a faulty escalator at the RER station at Marne le Vallee, close to the park’s entrance.

French police and the army had evacuated the park and tourists tweeted that they had been told to stay in their hotels.

A Disneyland Paris spokesman, who later confirmed it was a false alarm, said the police presence and resort lockdown were standard procedure for any sort of incident.
