Emirates inks codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines
China Southern Airlines has inked a codeshare agreement with Gulf carrier Emirates.
The codeshare pact will kick off on March 31 and initially cover 18 routes.
It adds eight new China destinations for Emirates which are served by China Southern Airlines’ domestic services from Guangzhou.
These are Fuzhou, Chongqing, Kunming, Qingdao, Xiamen, Chengdu, Nanjing and Xi’an.
China Southern will get better access to the Middle East and Africa with minimum connection times to destinations in the Emirates network such as Jeddah, Muscat, Cairo, the Seychelles and Lagos.
Chinese passengers can also enjoy stopovers in Dubai thanks to the UAE’s visa-free policy.
“We are pleased to establish a partnership with China Southern Airlines, allowing customers increased choice and ease of connection to different cities across China’s provinces,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ divisional SVP of strategic planning.
Emirates flies twice a day to Shanghai and Beijing and once to China Southern Airlines’ hub at Guangzhou.
It is the Dubai based carrier’s first codeshare partnership with a Chinese airline.
