General manager, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, Dagmar Symes
Dagmar Symes has been announced as the new general manager of Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Oman.
Symes brings with her valuable experience in both the hotel and luxury retail industries across Europe and the Middle East. She kick-started her career with the Leading Hotels of the World, and has worked for luxury properties in France, Switzerland and her native Germany.
Her first general manager stint was at Hotel Chateau Grand Barrail in Saint Emilion, France. She then moved on to 12 years of management in the luxury jewellery business and worked in flagship stores of renowned brands such as BVLGARI and Louis Vuitton in Germany and France. She returned to the hospitality industry in 2010 as the hotel manager of Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, Munich, and eventually moved to the Middle East to work as the pre-opening general manager of Kempinski Summerland Hotel & Resort in Beirut, Lebanon.
Prior to joining the Minor Hotels family in September 2018, Symes worked as the cluster general manager of Phoenicia InterContinental Hotel in Beirut and Phoenicia Le Vendome InterContinental Hotel.
As the general manager of Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, she will be responsible for introducing and overseeing Anantara’s vision of offering unparalleled experiences for its guests.
Enthusing on her new challenge, Symes said: “I am really looking forward to discovering all that this astounding mountain range has to offer. I have fallen in love with the breath-taking scenery, the genuine local culture and the expertise we each hold at the highest resort in the Middle East.
