Hong Kong drops hotel quarantine
Hong Kong’s mandatory hotel quarantine has finally been scrapped.
Also from today, travellers no longer have to produce a pre-flight negative Covid test.
Arrivals will instead have to self-monitor for possible infection for three days.
That means they have to avoid facilities such as restaurants or shopping malls for the first three days
Hong Kong had one of the strictest Covid policies on the planet.
The news sparked a flood of bookings.
The Cathay Pacific website was inundated and is operating a queuing system to book.
Cathay will add 200 more flights in October to Asian and long haul destinations.
“While we will continue to add back more flights as quickly as is feasible, it will take time to rebuild our capacity gradually,” the airline said.
