London City Airport first to lift liquid rule
London City Airport says it will be the first airport to end the current liquid restrictions.
This is thanks to new high -tech CT scanners .
It will be the biggest change in aviation security procedures since the early 2000s.
The new 3D security scanners allow passengers to keep laptops and other electronics in their bag.
The new liquid limit will be up to two litres.
Airport CEO Robert Sinclair said: “The new lanes will not only cut hassle but also queuing times, which I know passengers will love.”
The new CT machines will follow at other major UK airports by mid-2024.
Transport Secretary Mark Harper
London City Airport has already begun using two new CT scanners.
One more new scanner will be added before the end of March.
Trials of the new scanners have been conducted since 2018.
