Machu Picchu closed again to tourists
Peru’s iconic Machu Picchu is closed again as anti-government protests intensified.
The Culture Ministry said it closed the country’s top tourist attraction and the Inca Trail ‘to protect the safety of tourists.’
There were about 300 foreign tourists stranded near Machu Picchu.
It is now closed indefinitely.
More than 55 people have died during weeks of unrest.
Demonstrations began after President Pedro Castillo was ousted and replaced by vice president, Dina Boluarte.
