Manchester Airport outlines £440m final phase transformation

Manchester Airports Group revealed a £440m airport investment to create thousands of jobs.

It is the final phase of the £1.3 billion transformation programme, first announced in 2015.

It will transform the passenger experience at the UK’s third largest airport, with new facilities, shops, bars, restaurants and lounges.

The first phase saw Terminal 2 more than double in size.

This latest investment completes the transformation of Terminal 2, delivering improvements from check-in to baggage reclaim.

Upon completion in 2025, Terminal 1 is set to close.

More than 500 jobs will be created in the construction phase alone.

Around 16,000 extra jobs could be generated by 2040 as a result of economic activity generated by the expansion.
