Mekong Tourism launches second Mekong Mini Movie Festival
The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office has launched another Mekong Mini Movie Festival.
The festival showcases user-generated videos of 60 seconds or less of destinations in the six nations that comprise the Mekong region.
Submissions are invited until April 11, and videos posted to travellers’ personal social media feeds should be added with hashtags such as MekongMoments.
Comprising three categories, winning videos are chosen by the public and a Mekong Tourism advisory board.
The medium of video is ‘powerful and inspiring’ to showcase attractions and destinations, said Jens Thraenhart, MTCO executive director, during its launch at the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum Ha Long, Vietnam.
Last year’s inaugural festival features 500 video entries of which 300 made the cut.
Combined, they gained 220,0000 follows and more than one million views with an estimated social reach of 14 million.
The mission of Mekong Mini Movie is to encourage exploration in secondary destinations and promote sustainable and inclusive tourism, Thraenhart added.
