Movenpick to open Addis Ababa hotel
Swiss hotel management company, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, is set to open its first hotel in Ethiopia the last quarter of this year.
The 252-room Mövenpick Hotel Addis Ababa will be located in the city’s Bole district, 2.5km from Bole International Airport.
Alan O’Dea, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Senior Vice President Africa, commented: “We’re delighted to sign our first property in Ethiopia, and excited to secure a presence in the heart of Addis Ababa – a dynamic and thriving capital city which we believe has fantastic potential for continued growth and development.”
The hotel will offer an all-day and an Asian restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool on the first-floor terrace overlooking the Ethiopian Elite Sports Centre, a sports bar, an 800 sqm fitness centre, and a spa.
A ballroom will be able to host up to 460 people, there will be an event space of 2 300 sqm with a capacity of 1 200 guests.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has continued its rapid expansion across sub-Saharan Africa. It currently operates 83 hotels worldwide and is on track to surpassing 100 hotels by 2020.
