Pierre Gagnaire restaurant at ANA InterContinental Tokyo retains its two Michelin stars
ANA InterContinental Tokyo is delighted to announce that ‘Pierre Gagnaire’ – the hotel’s signature restaurant – has once again proven its culinary credentials by retaining its two Michelin stars, for the tenth consecutive year, in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2020, the foremost authority on the world’s greatest dining establishments.
Pierre Gagnaire Tokyo is Chef Pierre Gagnaire’s highest restaurant in the world, resting on the 36th floor of the hotel. Within the sophisticated setting of the restaurant, complete with its Edo-murasaki purple colour scheme and firework mural, the presentation of this culinary maestro’s hallmark cuisine is as much a work of art as the food itself. The menu allows guests to choose from a selection of intricately prepared, modern French dishes, each expressing their own story and flavor. The unforgettable dining experience is testimony to Pierre Gagnaire’s passionate dedication to the best quality produce and the creation of unprecedented tastes.
Yosuke Akasaka, the Executive Chef at the Pierre Gagnaire Tokyo restaurant, has been closely working under Chef Pierre Gagnaire for more than 16 years. Supported by the Gagnaire’s steadfast trust, he continues to create new dishes using high quality ingredients sourced in Japan, while at the same time maintaining the basics of authentic French cuisine enriched with Pierre Gagnaire’s artistic style and flair. The team is very proud to be retaining two stars, thus demonstrating the pursuit of excellence in every guest’s dining experience.
Tokyo’s vibrant and cosmopolitan culinary scene is astonishing, not only because of the strong culture of eating out and the diverse variety of cuisines on offer – both Japanese and international, but also because of the huge number of top quality, internationally acclaimed and award winning restaurants, including 226 Michelin-starred restaurants – more than any other city in the world.
Upon hearing the news that his restaurant had maintained its two Michelin star status, Chef Pierre Gagnaire said, “It is always a great honour to be selected by the Michelin Guide of Tokyo as one of the City’s top dining establishments, especially as there are so many restaurants in Tokyo and competition is therefore very keen. We will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Tokyo restaurant in March next year, and I would like to thank all of our restaurant guests for their loyalty and ongoing support”.
