Turkiye on track for all-time record of three million Brits
Turkiye is set to welcome a record-breaking three million UK visitors in 2022
It will be a record high.
Tourism statistics show that in the first nine months of 2022, Türkiye received 2.8 million UK visitors.
This surpasses the 2.56 million who visited throughout all of 2019, and easily exceeds the original 2022 UK target of 2.5 million visitors by the end of 2022.
Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Republic of Türkiye Minister of Culture and Tourism, says: “Going into 2022, we already had great confidence in the UK market. These numbers not only exemplify the importance of the UK to Türkiye but highlight our country’s appeal as a year round destination.”
Analysis from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism shows that Türkiye’s worldwide visitor numbers will finish this year on par or slightly above levels in 2019 – which previously held the all-time record.
As a result, Türkiye is again revising upwards its target for 2022 from 47 million to 50 million visitors.
The Minister will be present at World Travel Market 2022 to share important insights on Türkiye’s tourism strategy for 2023.
Minister Ersoy adds: “2023 is an important year for Türkiye as the first stage of our national programme with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council comes into effect. This is one of many developments.”
Türkiye’s 594m2 pavilion stand will be in the EUROPE hall at stand number EU1300, under the Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).
At the stand, there are 63 participating institutions: including hotels, travel agencies and wider travel associations.
A selection of Türkiye’s most popular tourist campaigns will be showcased at this year’s stand, including The Turkish Riviera, Turkeagean, Safe and Sustainable Türkiye, Naturally Türkiye, Istanbul is the New Cool and the Michelin Guide.
