Weekends for half price revive the dead seasons in tourism
How to deal with the dead season in tourism? The medicine is known to the Polish Tourist Organization. Half-cheaper accommodation and discounts on ticket prices for museums, theaters and other facilities encourage tourists to travel in the off-season. Partners can apply to the “POLSKA SEE MORE – WEEKEND FOR HALF PRICES” campaign until February 12.This will be the sixth edition of the initiative of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Polish Tourist Organization. The aim is to present a rich tourist offer and encourage more and more Poles to travel around the country, also outside the traditional summer or winter season. It’s about reviving the so-called low seasons in the tourism industry. The action is organized twice a year: in autumn and spring. In the last edition of the project, more than 750 partners offered their services at reduced prices. It was a record number. Submissions for the spring edition are still ongoing.
We are happy that the popularity of the campaign is growing not only among tourists, but also among partners. Entrepreneurs noticed that together they can gain more than alone – said the President of the Polish Tourist Organization, Robert Andrzejczyk. – The campaign changes the tourist habits of Poles and encourages them to travel, also outside of typical holiday periods. The survey, which we conduct after the action, shows that as many as nine out of ten tourists declare their willingness to use the offers again after the price promotion has ended. These are very promising results. I invite all entities from the tourism, catering and cultural industries to participate – added the President of PTO.
Not only tourists are satisfied, also owners of accommodation facilities, tourist attractions, restaurants and hotels who have decided to join the program.
The action works great and attracts holidaymakers in the so-called dead season. Mostly families with children are coming; each edition of the action increases the number of guests. The action from year to year is becoming more and more popular. The first, pilot edition has benefited 60.000 people, on the other 77.5 thousand, and the third already over 110 thousand. The upward trend continues, in the autumn of 2018, 165 thousand have already benefited from the promotion. Importantly, with each turn of the edition, the number of partners joining the initiative is also increased. As in previous years, LOT will join the spring action, which will reduce the domestic ticket prices by half during the action. According to statistics, Poles are more and more willing to rest in Poland. For example, in the first quarter of 2018, the number of domestic travels increased in relation to the same period of 2015 by 18.5%.
