Wizz Air inks sustainable aviation fuel deal
Wizz Air has signed an agreement with Neste for supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from 2025.
The MoU allows the airline purchase 36,000 tons of SAF for its route network in Europe and the UK.
This ensures Wizz Air can progress its plan to reduce CO2 intensity per passenger kilometre.
It builds on Wizz Air’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions intensity by 25% by 2030.
It aims to reach net-zero by 2050.
In 2022, Wizz Air achieved its lowest ever annual carbon intensity per passenger/km.
The airline has been continuously adding new Airbus A321neo aircraft to its fleet and replacing older aircraft.
The new Airbus A321neos can currently fly with up to 50% SAF blend.
