You won’t bring fruits as a souvenir
New European Union regulations have entered in force. Starting December 14th new rules were introduced. They do not concern the passengers from EU countries, just the travelers coming from outside of the zone. They will not be able to bring all kinds of plants.
The majority of plants will have to have the special phytosanitary certificate issued by the plant protection service in the source country. Of course, there is an exception. The certificate will not be needed for pineapples, durians, bananas, dates and coconuts.
Tourists will be able to freely bring those fruits from Egypt or Turkey. The implementation of new rules came to be for fear of bringing plant diseases to the EU countries which would weaken the regional cultivation.
