Starting July 1, the historic town of Assisi—birthplace of Saint Francis—will host the travelling exhibition “Jordan: Dawn of Christianity”, following its successful run in the Vatican.

The exhibition, staged in the medieval Palazzo Monte Frumentario, features over 90 artifacts, including ancient mosaics and interactive installations that narrate the origins of Christianity in Jordan. Highlights include UNESCO pilgrimage sites: the Baptism Site at Bethany beyond the Jordan, Mount Nebo, Tel Mar Elias, and Machaerus fortress.

Choosing Assisi is symbolic—it reinforces the spiritual ambiance of the Jubilee Year 2025. The exhibition promotes cultural ties between Italy and Jordan, encourages religious tourism, and fosters interfaith dialogue. It offers the region a unique chance to share its deep religious and historical heritage. The exhibition runs through August 2.
