India has witnessed a record-breaking number of attendees at this year’s Magh Mela festival, held in Allahabad (Prayagraj) at the confluence of the sacred rivers Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Over 400 million pilgrims participated, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

Magh Mela is an annual Hindu festival of spiritual renewal, during which devotees perform ritual baths in the holy waters, believing they purify the soul and bring blessings. This year, the most significant day was Makar Sankranti, which attracted millions of worshippers.

Indian authorities provided extensive infrastructure, including additional transportation, sanitation facilities, and security measures for the pilgrims. Despite the massive crowd, the festival proceeded without major incidents.

The record turnout highlights the growing importance of the festival, not only as a religious event but also as a major tourist attraction, drawing devotees from across India and beyond.
