President Donald Trump’s administration has renewed its interest in acquiring Greenland, proposing annual payments of $10,000 to each resident to replace existing Danish subsidies. The plan also includes investments in infrastructure, energy, and technology sectors, such as developing data centers and artificial intelligence projects.

Trump argues that Greenland holds strategic importance for U.S. national security due to its Arctic location and abundant natural resources, including rare minerals and energy reserves. However, both Greenlandic and Danish authorities firmly oppose these plans, emphasizing the island’s sovereignty and rejecting any notion of its sale.

Trump’s proposals have drawn international criticism, with many observers viewing them as a form of neocolonialism and an attempt to expand U.S. influence in the Arctic region. Despite the controversy, the Trump administration continues efforts to persuade Greenland’s residents to consider joining the United States.
