A stag weekend staple will soon come to an end.

From mid-May, smoking cannabis on the street of the Amsterdam red light district will be banned.

City Hall wants to increase the quality of life in the infamous district often blighted by tourists behaving badly.

It also ordered sex workers to close by 3am.

The city council said restaurants and bars would have to close by 2am at weekends,

No visitors would be allowed into the old city district after 1am.

It is already illegal to drink alcohol in most public spaces throughout Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam cannabis cafes are a major tourist attraction.
