ExpressJet Airlines ups sign-on bonus for new pilots

ExpressJet Airlines it is increasing its pilot sign-on bonus to $22,000.

The United Airlines affiliate plans to hire 600 new pilots this year and is offering an additional $5,000 for some pilots with an eligible type rating.

The airline is adding 25 new Embraer E175 aircraft and plans to expand its existing fleet of Embraer ERJ145 jets.

It claims to be among the best pay for regional airline pilots in the industry with ‘top-tier compensation and work rules,’ according to VP of flight operations Greg Wooley.

New pilots will get an immediate training start date and can expect to begin flying within about three months.

ExpressJet Airlines operates regional, Canada and Mexico services as United Express, on behalf of United Airlines ro more than 100 airports.

Pilots have access to the United Career Path Program, which offers fast track progression as a mainline pilot for United Airlines.

It says 250 ExpressJet pilots have progressed to United through the program.
