The airlines do not give up

Delta Air Lines is doing its bit to maintain social distancing in the air. Starting April 13 through the end of May, the dreaded middle seat will be no longer available to book.

The middle seats are blocked in Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+ and Delta Premium Select on all flights.

“Customers who want to practice responsible social distancing can explore options via the Fly Delta App or at Delta.com. Customers who prefer to be seated directly next to travel companions and family members or needing additional assistance should contact reservations,” the airline stated.

It is also limiting the number of passengers on each flight but didn’t say by how much.

British Airways, on the other hand, focused on the cargo flights. The BA aircraft loaded with vital medical supplies from China comes back to London Heathrow.

Supplied onboard the Boeing 777 includes ventilators as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) including goggles, face guards and gowns.

The flight was operated in partnership with the UK Government and IAG Cargo. The British Embassy is working with the Department of Health to procure medical equipment from China and deliver it to NHS hospitals all over the UK.

This is jus one of several British Airways flights containing medical equipment and supplies coming in to the UK from China.

Also German Lufthansa shows they are prepared for the rough times. For the very first time, Deutsche Lufthansa AG invited its shareholders to a virtual Annual General Meeting. Given certain conditions, legislation has made it possible to hold the Annual General Meeting without shareholders being physically present. This decision takes into account the health protection of shareholders, the current physical distancing rules and the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The General Meeting is scheduled for 5 May 2020 at 10 a.m. and will be held exclusively virtually for the very first time. Shareholders will have the opportunity to submit their questions in advance. The Annual General Meeting will be streamed live at lufthansagroup.com. Shareholders who register for the online service in advance can also take part in the voting online, where extended electronic options are available.
