Turkish police arrested dozens of people after an explosion shook Istanbul.

At least eight people are dead and 81 others wounded.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu blamed the Kurdistan Workers Party for Sunday’s explosion.

“We will retaliate against those who are responsible for this heinous terror attack,” he said.

The blast rocked busy Istiklal Avenue.

A woman was seen apparently planting the device and has been detained along with 45 other people.

Istiklal Avenue is a popular shopping area which attracts many tourists.

The UK Foreign Office has now updated its travel advice.

UK travellers should ‘remain vigilant’.

“The British Embassy is in contact with local authorities. You should remain vigilant, minimise travel around this area, and follow the advice of the local security authorities,” the FCDO said.

The Foreign Office will share further updates as more details become known.

It hasn’t yet advised against travel to Turkiye.
