Travel industry tributes pour in for the Queen

Tributes have been flooding in from across the travel industry at home and abroad on the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II died yesterday at the age of 96 with Charles becoming the new monarch.

“The Queen has been the most incredible force for good. She won the hearts and respect of people and nations around the world,” said Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO.

“Our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and heartfelt tribute for a lifetime of dedicated service.”

The Royal Collection Trust, which manages royal tourist attractions will observe official mourning.

“Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, as a mark of respect, all of our six sites will be closed on Friday 9 September.”

“Her Majesty was our longest reigning monarch and will be remembered for a remarkable lifetime of service. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time,” The Tower of London tweeted.

British Airways said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Her Majesty the Queen. Our thoughts are with the entire British Royal Family and the nation, as we grieve her immeasurable loss.”

Virgin Atlantic said the Queen was ‘an extraordinary figurehead, flying the flag for the United Kingdom around the world.’

It will now prompt 10 days of mourning.

Travel Counsellors said: “We are deeply grateful for her service to the nation over so many years and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Royal Family.”

The date of the state funeral is yet to be confirmed.

EasyJet tweeted: “Everyone at easyJet is truly saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. We join all those paying tribute to her and her lifetime of service to the UK and beyond.”

Commonwealth leaders around the world sent tributes

“An historic reign and a long life devoted to duty, family, faith and service has come to an end,” said Australian Prime Minster Anthony Albanese while India PM Narendra Modi will ‘never forget her warmth and kindness’.
